Do I need a backflow test?

The pressure created by springs inside a backflow preventer counteracts different forms of backflow that would otherwise allow contaminated water to pass into the public water system.

However, the rubber seals inside the devices often wear, leading to the device not working properly. Florida requires currently installed backflows to be tested and certified annually.
